Back to School

The summer transfer window is officially closed and despite the rumours, the incognito photos of sightings, and the game of telephone running rampant of chosen ones from the mouths of “solid sources", class is officially back in session.

Liverpool’s summer of 2026 has brought four new faces to Anfield: Jérémy Jacquet, Victor Muñoz, Ronald Araújo and Bradley Barcola. And while they arrive with very different résumés, there seems to be a common thread running through the group: pace, versatility, athleticism and the ability to fit into the high-energy football Andoni Iraola wants Liverpool to play.

So, while you guys are deciding on your next jersey picks, here’s the rundown.

Bradley Barcola — The Gamechanger

Position: Forward/Winger
Age: 23
Former Squad: Paris Saint-Germain
Squad Number: 29
Nationality: French

Liverpool certainly didn't whisper their intentions with this one.

Bradley Barcola arrives from Paris Saint-Germain as one of Europe's most exciting attacking players and with a trophy cabinet that already includes two Champions League titles and three Ligue 1 championships.

During three seasons at PSG, Barcola made 152 appearances, scoring 39 goals and adding 35 assists. He also scored three times for France during their run to fourth place at the 2026 World Cup.

But numbers don't entirely explain why Liverpool wanted him.

Barcola is agile. Really fast.

He's direct, comfortable taking on defenders and capable of playing across the front three. Give him space and he can turn a harmless-looking transition into a scoring opportunity frighteningly quickly. This obviously fits into Iraola’s style. I mean quite frankly we are done with constipated play and Barcola proves to have the skills to push. In addition to his skillset, he genuinely wanted to come to LFC.

“When I knew about Liverpool's interest in me, I didn't ask questions — I knew it was a very big club for me."

Ronald Araújo — The Muscle

Position: Centre-back / Right-back
Age: 27
Former Squad: Barcelona — season-long loan
Squad Number: 33
Nationality: Uruguay

This addition to the Reds hits a little different because it adds something the others don’t have—Experience. The Uruguayan defender and Barcelona capitan made more than 200 appearances for Barcelona, played extensively in the Champions League and won three La Liga titles before arriving at Anfield on loan.

At 6’4”, Araújo is an imposing presence and a serious threat in the air, but there’s more to his game than sheer physicality. He’s quick for his size, relentless when tracking opponents and comfortable covering multiple positions across the back line. Put that alongside Virgil van Dijk and Liverpool suddenly have a defensive pairing with size, composure and a healthy dose of intimidation.

With the others representing LFC’s future, Arujo arrives ready-made for the present. He will be a valuable addition to our back line providing leadership experience and a strong physicality.

"Since I put on this Liverpool FC jersey, I have understood what the Premier League really is. It's a completely different rhythm: pure intensity, physical duels and not a second to think."

Victor Muñoz — The Mustang

Position: Forward/Winger
Age: 23
Former Squad: Osasuna
Nationality: Spanish

If Barcola arrived with fireworks, Victor Muñoz may prove to be the sneaky-good signing of the window.

Muñoz joined Liverpool following a breakout season with Osasuna, where he recorded seven goals and five assists in 34 appearances. Impressively, he scored on his international debut. But then…his nation’s team won the World Cup this year. ¡Qué lujo!

He’s one of those players who looks like he’s not afraid to attack, but also his response time is lightning fast! We can see him quickly becoming a fan fave.

"I didn't come to Liverpool FC just to enjoy the experience. I came here to compete, improve and leave my mark. That's the mentality."

Jérémy Jacquet - The Class Act

Position: Centre-back
Age: 20
Former Squad: Stade Rennais
Nationality: French

Twenty year old Jérémy Jacquet came through the academy at Rennes and already accumulated senior experience in Ligue 1, including a productive loan spell with Clermont Foot.

He's also represented France throughout the youth levels and was named in the Team of the Tournament at the 2024 European Under-19 Championship after helping France reach the final. Pretty impressive!

We like how how composed and comfortable he is on the ball. He shows speed and aggression, but his movements are calm and controlled. It will be fun to watch him mature and become a solid anchor and he has the best mentors alongside him with Van Dijk and Araújo.

“I think that every Liverpool player dreams about scoring in this great stadium and I really hope that this will happen as quickly as possible."

We have four significant signings all with their own super powers. The goal to build a strong and tactical team is essential to not just Iraola’s role, but to Liverpool itself. It is going to take a minute for them to figure it out, but knowing these players’ worth will solve a lot of Liverpool’s issues. Iraola assembling players who can run, press, cover multiple positions and grow together while still adding enough established quality to compete now is something worth noting.

Barcola can play across the front line. Muñoz can operate from either side. Araújo can play centrally or at right-back. Jacquet gives Liverpool another athletic option in central defense. We’re looking at a new curriculum here—hopefully a successful one built for graduating these to the next level.

What do you think of our new signings? Is there anyone you would have chosen differently?
